ABRA was founded in 2004 to build cranes for explosive atmospheres and special process lines. That focus was not adopted later; it is the reason the company exists. From the first day, our work has been the kind that does not fit in a catalogue.
The founder's way of working
Our founder, Gürcan Kılıç, started in this industry in production. Close to half a century of experience led him to found more than one company in the sector; ABRA is the last of them and the most narrowly focused. For him, lifting was an engineering question, calculated anew each time. The company still works that way: read the conditions first, build the calculation, and commit last.
Depth was a choice
There is a well-known way to grow in the crane business: widen the range, raise the volume, make the standard product cheaper. Gürcan Kılıç knew that road from experience. When he founded ABRA, he chose the opposite.
Every plant has conditions of its own: the heat of a foundry, the explosion risk of a refinery, the particular flow of a production line. These have to be calculated. ABRA was built on that.
In a crane for an explosive atmosphere, the most critical component is the hoist that lifts the load. We manufacture that hoist and its gearbox in our own plant, and certify them with the crane. ABRA today
We have been at the same site since 2004, expanding the plant over the years to 16,000 m². More than seventy people design and build cranes from 250 kg to 160 t as a standard selection; above that, we engineer per project. The hoist, the end carriages and wheel groups, the steel structure and the operator cabin are made in our plant, and the engineering of the whole system is ours.
What happens after installation is our job as well. Maintenance contracts, breakdown service and spare parts sit under one roof, with on-site response within 48 hours of a call, anywhere in Türkiye. Our cranes are also in service across Europe, the Gulf, Africa, Central Asia and Latin America.

The second generation
The company is now run by the second generation. What was handed over is a way of seeing: every problem as an engineering question that can be calculated from the start. What the second generation adds is carrying that view into a corporate structure and a wider market. For you, it means the engineering decision you receive does not depend on one person; the company itself can repeat it.
